V pátek 30. října 2026 došlo k dramatické eskalaci dlouhodobého konfliktu o polský Ústavní tribunál (Trybunał Konstytucyjny). (Foto: X)
Noví soudci argumentují, že stávající vedení bránilo řádnému fungování tribunálu, včetně svolání valného shromáždění a připuštění nově zvolených soudců k rozhodování.
COUP UNDERWAY IN POLAND!
PM Donald Tusk has just sent police to storm Constitutional Tribunal building in Warsaw in the middle of the night.
Tusk waited until President Karol Nawrocki left the country before ordering the police takeover.
Nawrocki was halfway to Senegal when he abruptly turned his plane around and rushed back to Poland to confront the unfolding crisis.
The EU, which backs Donald Tusk, has STILL NOT issued a statement on this unprecedented crisis or condemned the attempted coup. https://t.co/c57467fKcJ

Conflict over Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal escalates in Warsaw: judge suspends its leadership and president cuts short Africa trip
A de facto power struggle has erupted within one of Poland’s most important state institutions in Warsaw today. For now, the outcome of this confrontation remains uncertain.
Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska called the police to the grounds of the Constitutional Tribunal, citing a potential threat to the safety of judges and staff.
Police did not enter the building, but a significant number of officers have been deployed in the surrounding area.
Korwin-Piotrowska suspended Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski and his deputy, Bartłomiej Sochański, for one month, temporarily taking charge of the institution herself.
Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party, called the developments a “coup” and urged Polish President Karol Nawrocki to intervene.
Nawrocki has cut short his visit to Senegal and is returning to Poland.
The conflict stems from a deep division over the composition of the court. Donald Tusk’s government refuses to recognise the Tribunal’s rulings because of judges appointed under the previous PiS government.
Meanwhile, Nawrocki and Święczkowski refuse to recognise judges elected by the Sejm in 2026.
Korwin-Piotrowska is among them: the president refused to accept her oath of office, while Święczkowski had previously prevented her from participating in court proceedings.

BREAKING: Police raid Polish Constitutional Tribunal as PM Donald Tusk’s government moves against its president, in what opponents are calling an illegal coup d’état.
• Police entered the premises of Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw on Friday and the court’s president, Bogdan Święczkowski, was suspended, in the latest escalation of a long-running dispute over the institution.
• Officers said they moved in after incidents outside the court, including the throwing of dangerous objects at police. The tribunal confirmed the suspension of its president on its website.
• President Karol Nawrocki turned his plane around mid-flight and aborted a trip to Senegal, stating on X: “At a moment like this, the President must be in Poland. I am cutting short my flight to Senegal. I am returning.”
• Opposition leader Jarosław Kaczyński has described the police action as a “coup” against the Constitutional Tribunal involving services under the government of pro-EU Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
• The tribunal is the body responsible for ensuring legislation complies with the Polish Constitution. https://t.co/fpq5A8h8cn
